Thanks to his new gig at ESPN, Patrick Beverley has been stirring up all kinds of trouble online.

The worst of it came after he made some questionable comments about Chris Paul, who recently got eliminated in a shocking upset against Dallas. Speaking on ‘Get Up!’ he burned CP3 for his play and demanded more slander be thrown in his direction:

“Ain’t nobody worried about Chris Paul when they play the Phoenix Suns… I’m just letting you know how NBA players feel,” said Beverley. “He’s finessed the game to a point where he gets all the petty calls, all the swipe throughs at the end. We gonna be honest? He should have fouled out. The last game too. You see the replay against Brunson, hit him on the shoulder, hit him on the mouth, ref don’t call anything. If that’s me, ‘Oh, review it. Oh, Flagrant 1.’ If that’s him, they don’t call it. So let’s not get it twisted man. He can’t guard.”

He even went so far as to call the guy a cone:

“CP can’t guard anybody man. Everybody in the NBA know that. You know those cones in the summer that you dribble around? What does the cone do? Nothing. He’s a cone… It’s just that y’all don’t want to accept that. Give him the Ben Simmons slander, give him the PG13 slander. Give him the slander you give everybody.”

However you feel about Paul, those words cut pretty deep and not everybody was a fan. JJ Redick fought back, Damian Lillard fought back, and even Danny Green called him out:

“People target you too, Pat Bev. You ain’t playing no f***ing defense out there. You ain’t stopping Luka. It’s time and time again I see Luka call you a** “little man” and “he’s too f***ing small” and go right at you every chance he got. When you play Luka you’re a cone, too. How would you like that? When you’re talking about a Hall of Famer you can critique, but the disrespect I think was taken a little far.”

Beverley ended up responding on Twitter with a photo of his analytic:

Green did end up responding, but it was only to call for peace:

So, it seems like the hatchet has finally been buried. It’s all good between Danny Green and Patrick Beverley. When it comes to Bev and Chris Paul, however, things just aren’t as good.

For whatever reason, the defensive star is dead-set on sharing his truth about Paul and will likely continue to take shots at him any chance he gets. Unless CP3 can step up and bring home a title, that’s just going to be how it goes for him for a while.
