After spending 4 seasons with the LA Clippers, Patrick Beverley was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies, who further shipped him to the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Clippers franchise parted ways with Rajan Rondo and Daniel Oturu as well. In exchange for the above players, the Clippers acquired guard Eric Bledsoe.

The deal would give the Clippers organization luxury tax benefits up to $30M. It would also create an $8.3 million traded-player exception that they will have a year to use.

Beverley might not be the best option when it comes to a team’s offensive strength. However, the 33-year-old is known to have a significant impact with his presence on the court. Though mostly known for his trash-talking, the former Clippers point guard is certainly a defensive asset to a team.

The point guard is a former NBA All-Defensive First Team and a 2x NBA All-Defensive Second Team. Beverley is known to get into the minds of certain NBA players with his dirty tactics.

In 4 seasons with the Clippers, Beverley averaged 26.2 MPG. The last season would see him coming off the bench as well. In his 4 years with the franchise, he averaged 8.0 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 3.3 APG on a 41.7% shooting from the field and 39.5% from beyond the arc.

Recently, the former Clippers point guard shared an emotional post on Instagram that said,

“Thanks for allowing me to be myself”.

Beverley has never shied away from playing the game his way. In the past, he has had some heated moments with the biggest names in the league, including LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and most recently Devin Booker.

As he embarks on his new journey in Minnesota, it will be interesting to see what role would the Timberwolves have to offer him.
