Michael Jordan is considered one of the greatest basketball players to ever live for a very good reason. It isn’t because he led the league in scoring 10 times or because he is the only player to both win Defensive Player of the Year and be scoring champion. It isn’t the MVPs, the All-Star berths, or the All-NBA positions. The golden stick to measure NBA greats will always be through their championships.

Michael Jordan amassed 6 championships over his career, never getting defeated in the NBA Finals over that period. He was also the Finals MVP through all six wins. The Bulls were spoilt with a period of winning that they had never seen before and haven’t seen since. Jordan would leave the Bulls after the 1998 season and the championship dynasty would stop there.

The 1998 season for the Chicago Bulls is extremely notable, as it was their ‘last dance’ together. Instagram account @airjordantalk shared pictures of the Bulls at the final championship parade of their franchise and MJ’s career.

Michael Jordan’s 1998 season saw him achieve at a historic level that no player has replicated since, but many have come close. He led the Bulls to the best record in the East with a 62-20 record.

For his performances that season, MJ was named the MVP, won the scoring title, was nominated to the All-NBA and All-Defensive first team, and was the All-Star Game MVP.

Jordan ended the season with his sixth and final Finals MVP, showing that this season was ruled by him from start to finish. While the GOAT conversation will continue forever, the things Jordan achieved even while at the age of 38 this season are historic and haven’t been replicated since.
