Former NBA superstar Ray Allen took to social media to share his views on racism, and in a powerful message, conveyed exactly what he wanted to.

Allen posted an image of five dogs of different colors with “We are the same animal” written on top, and “Racism is stupid” at the bottom. He also captioned the post with a James Baldwin quote.

“Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can change until it is faced. – James Baldwin”

The two-time NBA champion has been vocal about societal issues, and his latest post is one of the many times he has spoken about racial discrimination.

It was brilliant of Allen to show dogs as an example. As a pet, people love dogs irrespective of their breed and color, so why do discriminate against humans based on the shades of their skin?

It’s simple and effective. And maybe the world can take some notice of what Allen was trying to say.

Ray Allen Said He Experienced Racism For The Most Part Of His Life

Ray Allen was one of the athletes who experienced struggles with racism in his formative years. In one of his interviews, he spoke about how he endured racism for the most part of his life.

“Some people are out there saying that racism doesn’t exist anymore. And often times for those individuals it doesn’t because you don’t feel it. Because nobody’s treating you like you don’t matter. For all my life, I have experienced racism. I’ve lived with it.”

This is a shocking remark for someone who has accomplished some great things in sports.

And Allen knows what it is to be disrespected on the basis of color, making it all the more understandable as to why he wants the world to ground racism to a screeching halt. Maybe one day, the world will change. But the change has to come from within.
