- James Harden knows he might have to consider other teams than the Clippers
- Several teams have had discussions about trading for the star
- The star likely wants to move on from the 76ers
Point guard James Harden requested a trade this summer after he did not get his desired new contract from the Philadelphia 76ers. This saga has not been resolved thus far, as a move has obviously not happened yet.
One of the key hold-ups before was that James Harden’s preferred destination was the Los Angeles Clippers. However, that may no longer be the case, as a recent report from Sam Amico of Hoops Wire revealed that James Harden is open to playing for teams other than the Los Angeles Clippers.
“And if Harden truly doesn’t want to play in Philadelphia anymore, he may have to extend his list of desired destinations. According to sources, he understands that. Several teams outside of the Clippers have internally discussed the idea of adding Harden, though have done so cautiously.”
At this point, it is clear that James Harden’s primary goal is to simply move on from the Philadelphia 76ers. It will be interesting to see what other teams join the James Harden sweepstakes, as a lot of teams need a floor general of Harden’s caliber.
This past season, James Harden averaged 21.0 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 10.7 assists per game, while shooting 38.5% from 3PT range. Harden is clearly still an impactful player, and we’ll see where he ends up in the future.
James Harden Recently Called GM Daryl Morey A Liar
A lot of recent discussion regarding James Harden was fueled by his recent comments while on tour in China. The comments were directed at Daryl Morey, with Harden slamming the GM by calling him a “liar” while also claiming that he would never be a part of an organization with Morey at the helm.
“Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of. Let me say that again. Daryl Morey is a liar, and I will never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of.”
These comments are clearly heavy-handed, and there might be a good reason for that. There were some reports that indicated James Harden isn’t happy with Daryl Morey because he didn’t get a long-term deal from the 76ers, and perhaps he felt like an offer was coming his way this offseason. Hopefully, we see this situation end soon, and at this point, the optimal thing to do for the 76ers is to trade the star.
