Robert Covington Drug Tested After Averaging 3.75 Blocks Over The Past 4 Games

2 Min Read

The Houston Rockets traded away their middle man for a 3-and-D wing player. While Daryl Morey is known for being aggressive, his latest method is unorthodox, to say the least.

Intent on going all-in on their small-ball strategy, the Rockets are going to proceed the rest of the season without a big man.

And, interestingly enough, the results have been positive. Houston is 4th in the conference, in the middle of a 4-game win streak, and Robert Covington is going off on the defensive end.

In regards to the latter, his play of late has been so impressive he was literally drug tested by the NBA.

It may seem random, but Covington has been unusually dominant in Houstons’ latest win streak. Over the past four games, he is averaging 12.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 1 steal, and 3.8 blocks per game on 35.4% shooting.

His level of play has been insane recently, to say the least — and it’s happening at the perfect time for Houston.

As the try to earn a good playoff position this spring, and prove that their system is capable of success, Covington is giving them everything the best they can ask for. He’s making threes, making plays, and getting stops on the defensive end.

Still, we’re all eager to see how it will hold up in the postseason, where they will be pitted up against some solid frontcourts.
