The Los Angeles Lakers were once again outplayed in their recent fixture. This time around, it was the Minnesota Timberwolves that completely overwhelmed the Purple and Gold.

The game finished at 124-104 and it never even looked like the Lakers had a chance in the game. The reason for the team’s demise is quite evident to most. Apart from being lousy on defense, the Lakers are also struggling to make shots consistently.

Against the Timberwolves, the Lakers were just 41.9% from the field. On top of that, they were an abysmal 22.2% from the 3-point line. Shooting well has been a consistent issue for most Lakers players.

Russell Westbrook in particular has been criticized throughout the season for his poor shooting from the field as well as the 3-point line. One might wonder that the coaching staff and the players must be trying their best to improve this flaw in the team game.

Keeping that in mind, Russ was asked about his thoughts on how the Purple and Gold can improve their shooting. To which Westbrook replied:

No, just keep shooting. Simple as that. We came in with the right mindset. Just missed shots.”

To be honest, that doesn’t seem like a very bright solution to shooting issues for the Lakers. In fact, if anything this strategy has a chance of firing back on the Lakers, as it did against the Timberwolves.

Regardless of that, knowing Russ, he is someone who doesn’t care about what anyone thinks about him. If he has decided to do something, he will continue to do so irrespectively of the results.

After the defeat, Westbrook also responded back to the constant trash talk by Patrick Beverley and Karl-Anthony Towns. Russ believes they haven’t done anything to make him care about their trash talk.

That’s one way to deal with their trash talk. At the end of the day, the fact remains that the trash talk worked and the Lakers are edging closer to missing the 2022 NBA playoffs.
