Russell Westbrook is going through arguably the toughest offseason of his career. If the biggest worry in previous seasons was not achieving enough in the playoffs, this year must have weighed heavy on the former MVP. Russ has been heavily blamed for the Lakers failing to make the 2022 playoffs, and he has been in trade conversations all summer long.

Outside of basketball, Westbrook does a lot of things commercially that fans might not know about.

Westbrook is one of the few in Jordan Brand history to get a signature shoe, with Jordan even creating a spinoff brand, ‘Why Not?’ when they signed Westbrook to a 10-year extension in 2015. He also recently made a short film called ‘Dear Brodie’ under his brand Honor The Gift, with the film recently releasing its trailer, starring Westbrook.

The movie ‘Dear Brodie’ was directed by Dennis Williams and flashes between a young Westbrook and his grown self. The movie is told from the perspective of Westbrook’s father, who watches Brodie tap into his inner child to reach his highest potential.

What Is Russell Westbrook’s ‘Honor The Gift’ Brand?

Westbrook launched ‘Honor The Gift’ as a tribute to kids from the inner city of Los Angeles and the struggles they go through. It is founded on the philosophy of self-belief and dedication to never stop working towards your goals.

The brand primarily deals with fashion inspired by Westbrook’s youth, and the clothes relate to the city of LA. Westbrook has always been a fashion-forward NBA star, so his personal brand focusing on clothes is no surprise.

The movie trailer was released in tandem with the brand launching its Fall 2022 District collection, inspired by the Unified School Districts of LA. They also recently opened a store in LA.
