Kevin Durant is at the center of yet another social-media beef. This time, with Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen.
Durant didn’t like the way Pippen talked about him and compared him to LeBron James, claiming that his individuality led to the Brooklyn Nets’ elimination.
“Surpassing LeBron James takes a little bit more than an individual effort,” Pippen said. “LeBron James is a complete team player who understands team and winning. Has KD gotten to that level yet? He went home…”.
Unsurprisingly, Kevin Durant went back at Pippen on Twitter as he usually does, making fun of him for his infamous tantrum when Phil Jackson drew up a play for Toni Kukoc instead of him.
Pippen seemed unfazed by KD’s comments during a lengthy tell-all interview for The Dan Patrick Show, claiming that it’s just how he handles criticism:
“That’s how Kevin takes anything unless you’re praising him and pushing him up. I wasn’t trying to in any way belittle him. I think he’s a very talented player,” Pippen said.
Pippen has done his part to steal all the headlines lately, taking jabs at Kevin Durant, Phila Jackson, and even Michael Jordan.
Scottie had been a below-the-radar, low-profile kind of guy since leaving the league a while ago. But since The Last Dance, he’s made sure to let everybody know a piece of his mind.
Needless to say, that attitude has earned him a plethora of detractors, mockery, and criticism around social media.
As for Durant, it is a fact that he just hates being criticized. He can’t handle it when someone – even an unknown troll on social media – brings up his name and has the need to call him out and hit back at him. That doesn’t mean that Pippen’s right about him and what went down in the playoffs, though.
