The NBA tips hotline has been a famous topic in the NBA community in recent hours. After it was initially announced, a lot of players showed their disagreement with it, but the league didn’t stop its plans.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Wednesday that several calls have been made to report players that might violate the rules of the bubble. While some say the ‘snitch’ hotline is bad because it can break the codes, others think the opposite, stating that is the way to keep everybody accountable.
Chicago Bulls legend is one of the people who believe the ‘snitch’ hotline is fine to keep everybody safe. Talking to Rachel Nichols on ESPN’s The Jump, Pippen said:
“I’m okay with that. I don’t say that players are gonna be sort of calling each other out. But I think they want to make sure that everybody is safe. So with that being said, you need everybody eyes and ears working to make sure they keep that bubble safe. Because one outbreak could cost them the whole season. There’s a lot riding on this. I totally get it. So if you see something you don’t like, report it, please.”
Even though some players like Rudy Gobert disagreed with this, more people seem to be ok with the hotline. Richard Jefferson actually agreed with Pippen on ‘The Jump’.
“Let’s stop this. This is not the block, this is not where we grew up… This is not the neighborhood, this is a serious medical situation. If you go and do what you are not supposed to do, you are putting other people’s lives at risk,” he said. “I understand that we are talking to some 20-year-olds and guys that are young. And so, the message needs to be, ‘don’t do t. If you see something, say something.’”
If you don’t take this seriously, then you should have stayed at home, not risking other people’s lives for meaningless things. This is something historical for the NBA, this is one of the most memorable seasons in recent times and it should be taken as seriously as possible. Don’t expect other people to act like nothing is happening when you’re clearly breaking the rules.
