Former Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown is in jail after being charged for assault last Saturday. Brown, 34, allegedly attacked a couple who was entering his house, which is apparently up for sale, in Tyrone, Georgia, last weekend.

“A Tyrone man was charged May 2 with aggravated assault after allegedly firing a rifle in the direction of two people who said they entered his home that was listed for sale, with the gate and front door open,” a report from The Citizen read. “Shannon Brown, 34, was charged with one count of aggravated assault, according to Fayette County Jail records.”

“The couple told police the gate to the property was open, as was the front door, (Police spokesman Philip) Nelson said, adding that the couple maintained they announced their presence as they entered the home, and that someone inside the home said, ‘Come in.’” the report added.

The couple said that Brown got out holding a rifle, forcing them to leave the property, while the former Laker fired “five or six rounds in their direction.” The former player said that he thought the couple was breaking in his residence, but the incident is under investigation right now.

Brown is a two-time NBA champion, winning the Larry O’Brien trophy with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
