Shocking But True: Nikola Vucekic Leads The League In Field Goals Made During The 2020-21 Season

2 Min Read

When talking about the NBA’s best big men, Orlando star Nikola Vucevic isn’t usually a part of the conversation — but perhaps he should be.

Despite hardly any recognition from anyone, Vuc is having an amazing season, once again proving he is worthy of All-Star selection in the East. Not only is he dropping 24 and 11 this season, he’s also leading the league in total field goals made during the 2010-11 season (298).

If most fans were asked to answer who currently leads the league in field goals made during the 2020-21 season thus far, few would know that the answer is Orlando Magic big man Nikola Vucevic.

Vucevic, who has now led the Magic to the postseason two years in a row, is arguably having the best season he has ever had. The 7-footer, who was an All-Star recipient in 2019, is currently averaging a career-best of 24.0 points per game. But for whatever reason, this campaign has largely fallen under the radar.

Obviously, Nikola doesn’t have a very flashy game. He’s a quiet guy who doesn’t draw any attention to himself.

But he’s also the biggest reason why the Orlando Magic have been in a respectable spot over the past few years. Without him, it’s unlikely they sniff playoff territory.

So, the hope is that went the All-Star reserves get announced within the week, Vucekic’s name will be included. Because, quite frankly, there aren’t many more deserving than him in the Eastern Conference.
