  • Skip Bayless says LeBron James wanted to create an ‘I told you so’ list after taking a 2-1 lead in the 2011 NBA Finals
  • Bayless claims his name was supposedly No. 1 on the list
  • James allegedly dropped the plan after losing 4-1 in the Finals

Veteran NBA analyst Skip Bayless has been a prominent figure in sports media for decades now. He has earned a huge chunk of his popularity by hating Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.

Skip says LeBron created an ‘I told you so’ list after taking a 2-1 lead in the 2011 NBA Finals. It was apparently told to him by Stephen A. Smith.

“After the 2011 Finals, it felt like LeBron had finally decided I was a lost cause,” Bayless said on a 2022 episode of The Skip Bayless Show. “They won Game 3 at Dallas in the 2011 NBA Finals to go up 2-1.

“My friend Stephen A. Smith told me that he was told that LeBron went straight back to his hotel room in Dallas and made a list of people he was going to tell, ‘I told you so and you so,’ and Stephen A. told me that No.1 on that ‘I told you so’ list was yours truly. Was me.”

Bayless then pointed out how the tides turned against James in the remainder of the series and how he played the three worst Finals games of his career.

“Chosen one became the frozen one. In those three games, he averaged only 15-points a game, from the three, he was 2-of-12, from the free-throw line, he was 4-of-10, he averaged 5 turnovers in those three games, including six in the closeout game. In those 3 games, LeBron James was a -41.”

Now, it seems like a far-fetched story. After all, throughout his NBA career, LeBron James has never addressed Skip Bayless.

Moreover, if he wanted, he could have created that list in 2012 after he won the first NBA Championship of his career. Keeping that in mind, it seems it was yet another one of Bayless’ baseless attempts to knock off James from the pedestal.

LeBron James Struggled In The 2011 NBA Finals

Whether LeBron James created the ‘I told you so’ list or not can only be confirmed by him. But what fans do know is the fact James indeed had the worst performance of his career in the 2011 NBA Finals.

He averaged 17.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 6.8 assists over five games versus the Dallas Mavericks. James was in a tough place at the time.

Dwyane Wade revealed that LeBron James jumped straight into the pool from the balcony after losing the 2011 NBA Finals. It just shows how mentally messed up James was at the time.

Thankfully, he bounced back from that dark period and has won four NBA Championships in his career. He will be entering Year 21 of his illustrious career in the league.
