Stephen A. Smith isn’t happy with Kyrie Irving’s attitude towards the media this upcoming season. The All-Star point guard released a statement where he explained that he wouldn’t be talking with the media and would ‘let his game speak for him’ in the next campaign. Kyrie has been under attack by the media for several years now, either it was about his relationship with LeBron James, his thoughts about the earth being flat and more.

Kyrie has received a slander that is often unjustified and he’s had enough of it. Irving said:

“COVID-19 has impacted us all in many ways, so I pray for the safety and health of our communities domestically and abroad. I am truly excited for the season to start and I am also praying that everyone remains safe and healthy throughout this journey.
“Instead of speaking to the media today, I am issuing this statement to ensure that my message is conveyed properly.

“I am committed to show up to work every day, ready to have fun, compete, perform, and win championships alongside my teammates and colleagues in the Nets organization. My goal this season is to let my work on and off the court speak for itself.

“Life hit differently this year and it requires us, it requires me, to move differently. So, this is the beginning of that change.”

Well, not everybody liked this attitude and Smith went off on Kyrie, calling him out for his choice and urging him to take responsibility for his failures and stop blaming other people.

“I think he’s immature, occasionally selfish, and at this particular moment in time, he comes off as a damn snob! He thinks people are beneath him and he’s above it. [He] looks at the media as being inauthentic… Everything that has happened to Kyrie Irving is self-inflicted. Go back and look at the tapes, quote him… In Kyrie’s world it’s always us, it’s never him!”

Even after making this decision, Kyrie is under attack by the media. The player has gotten a lot of these comments in recent times and not only from fans. The people that write and tell the news are the ones that start the slander on him, something that obviously has taken a toll on the star.
