Stephen Curry spoke to the press about the recent political happenings in the United States, showing his support for the new presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris. He praised the incumbent Vice President and hoped to bring unity to the divided United States through Team USA’s Olympic run.

“It’s a very interesting time for our country, for sure. The fact that President Biden gave the endorsement, Vice-President Harris is primed to bring her energy to this campaign and, hopefully, if she’s on the ticket, winning the election. It’s a big deal, to say the least.”

“She represents the Bay Area. She’s been a big supporter of us, so I want to give that energy back to her. We’re representing our country here, and this is a very monumental next couple of months for the direction where we’re headed.”

“Hopefully, this is a great way to do our part to continue unifying our country with how sports brings a lot of people together. For her, in this moment, knowing what’s ahead, it’s all about positive energy and optimism, knowing how divided our country is right now. [I’m] just excited for the journey ahead for her.”

Kamala Harris rose to prominence as a key political figure in the Bay Area and was asked to be Joe Biden’s running-mate in the 2020 U.S. Presidential Elections. She and Biden won the election, usurping then-incumbent Donald Trump and Mike Pence to make their way to the Oval Office.

Amidst concerns over Joe Biden’s health, age, and mental faculties, the Democratic party named Kamala Harris as their candidate to be the next U.S. President, with Biden stepping down from the race.

Curry and Team USA can help the turmoil in the country by winning their sixth consecutive gold medal at the Olympics in Paris this year. Team USA are looking to redeem their poor showing at the FIBA World Cup last year, and have recruited some of the best players in the NBA to make that happen.

Team USA Facing Unique Challenge At Olympics

Team USA will be hoping to tune out the noise from all of the political happenings in their home country to try and lock in and focus ahead of the Olympics. The reigning gold medalists are considered the heavy odds-on favorites to win gold once again but will have tougher competition than people expect.

Unlike the dominant 1992 Dream Team, which only had to face 9 NBA players during their run to the gold medal in Barcelona, Team USA will play against 61 active NBA players during their Olympic run this year. And with some of the biggest superstars in the NBA like Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander representing their countries, Team USA will not have an easy path to the podium.

Team USA has by far the most stacked roster, led by LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Joel Embiid, the three guaranteed starters for the team according to head coach Steve Kerr. Other players like Kevin Durant, Anthony Edwards, Anthony Davis, and Jayson Tatum are expected to compete for the remaining spots.

Despite their incredible talent, Team USA cannot afford to be complacent, as this complacency cost them at the FIBA World Cup last year, and of course, Team USA’s infamous flub at the 2004 Olympics, where they were only able to secure the bronze medal. This time around, expect Team USA to keep their focus as they attempt to win it all.
