After a disappointing first-round loss to the Denver Nuggets by 4-1 in this postseason, the Los Angeles Lakers are on the brink of major changes. Head coach Darvin Ham has been fired by the team after two lackluster years, sparking speculation about a significant overhaul of the coaching staff this summer.

Lakers fans, ever passionate and forward-thinking, have concocted a dream scenario for the team’s next coaching lineup, where JJ Redick could be a leading candidate for the role per reports.

So here’s the dream scenario: Tyronn Lue switches sides to take over as the Lakers’ head coach. But for that to even be a possibility, a few things need to line up perfectly. First, his current squad, the Los Angeles Clippers, needs to bow out early from the playoffs—they’re already down 3-2 against the Mavericks, so there’s a chance.

If the Clippers do crash out in the first round, then Lue would have to be up for leaving them to jump ship to their cross-hall rivals. Known for his strategic smarts and having already clinched an NBA title with LeBron James back in 2016, Lue’s exactly the kind of leader the Lakers could do with to get back on top.

The Lakers Staff Could Be Stacked With Talent On The Sideline

Joining Tyronn Lue could be JJ Redick, Rajon Rondo, and Phil Handy, each bringing their own unique strengths to the bench.

Redick, known for his sharpshooting during his NBA career, has transitioned smoothly into a role as a basketball analyst. On his podcast, he frequently breaks down plays and discusses game strategy, showing a deep understanding of basketball that could translate well into a coaching role. His insights and fresh perspective on the game might be invaluable in developing the Lakers’ offensive schemes.

Rajon Rondo, another proposed assistant, is celebrated for his high basketball IQ and exceptional understanding of in-game dynamics. His experience and tactical prowess could greatly benefit the Lakers’ playmaking and floor management, areas that have been lacking in recent seasons.

Lastly, Phil Handy, who is respected throughout the league for his player development skills, would be a crucial addition. Handy has a history of improving player performance through his focused training methods and could play a pivotal role in enhancing the abilities of the Lakers’ roster.

This dream coaching lineup could be just what the Lakers need to get back on track, focusing on smart strategies, player growth, and managing big personalities. As we head into the offseason, Lakers fans are all eyes on the front office, hoping they can make this dream a reality and kick-start a successful era for the team.
