In the 77 seasons that the NBA has been in existence, there have been so many iconic moments. We have seen records, which were thought to be out of reach, get broken while some of the greatest names in the sport have made their mark by delivering the goods in high-pressure situations.
There are some moments though that tend to stand out even among all the iconic ones and one of them took place on Tuesday night. LeBron James made history, as he eclipsed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to become the league’s all-time leading scorer.
He hit a fadeaway jumper to break the record and the moment has been immortalized with an epic picture. One NBA fan though compared the picture to that from another iconic moment, when Michael Jordan hit the game-winner against the Utah Jazz in Game 6 of the 1998 NBA Finals.

“No phones out vs all phones out”
It really shows the difference in eras. You can’t really blame the people in attendance for this though, as anyone in their position would want to record that moment for themselves. Also, the thing with that Jordan image is that there were no phones with cameras at the time and even if there were, you wouldn’t expect Jazz fans to take a picture of what would have been a horrifying moment for them.
LeBron James Says His Name Will Now Have To Come Up Among The Greatest Scorers
One of the bizarre things about LeBron breaking the record is that you would have found plenty of fans, media members, and even ex-players, who have never considered him to be an all-time great scorer. He has had that label of a pass-first player on him for the longest time, which means he never really gets included in the discussion of greatest scorers.
As he was on the brink of breaking the record, he hilariously told ESPN that people will have no choice now, but to mention his name when it comes to the greatest scorers. They sure will, as I’m not sure how you exclude the all-time leading scorer from discussions about the greatest scorers ever.
