The Warriors Will Not Trade James Wiseman Or Wolves’ Pick If They Don’t Get Joel Embiid Or Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Golden State Warriors found a gem in James Wiseman and the team has high expectations for the former Memphis Tiger center. Although things haven’t gone as well for the Wiseman compared to Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball, the big man knows he landed in a very good franchise that will try everything to help fulfill his potential in upcoming seasons.

However, they could part ways with the player under one condition, which is highly unlikely to happen right now. According to Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicles, the Dubs could trade Wiseman if they get a franchise player in return, like Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo.

“Golden State knows that any discussion for an All-Star-caliber player will begin with the other team asking for one or both of the franchise’s two biggest assets outside of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green: the top-three-protected 2021 pick from Minnesota and rookie center James Wiseman,” Letourneau noted in his most recent report.

“But according to a team source, the Warriors ‘almost definitely’ wouldn’t surrender that Timberwolves selection or Wiseman unless they got back someone generational such as Joel Embiid or Giannis Antetokounmpo.”

The Warriors expect to have their original Big 3 healthy next season, with Klay Thompson returning from a season-ending injury. Wiseman would enter his second season and will have more chances to learn but if they found themselves in the position to deal the young player for one asset like the Philadelphia 76ers big man of the back-to-back MVP, things will get very interesting for them.

Knowing that won’t happen, this pretty much means that the team is ready to pass the torch to Wiseman in the future when Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green start slowing down. This kid has a bright future ahead of him but seeing his performances in the first half of the season, Edwards and Ball are having a better campaign than him.

It’s still early to say he’s a bust or anything like that but now the Warriors have more expectations about Wiseman and he needs to live up to them if he wants to be a Warrior for life.
