Widely regarded as one of the best coaching minds in the game, Tyronn Lue has led the Clippers to several strong seasons since taking over in 2020.

While there are no signs that Lue is open to leaving LA, the latest report from Yahoo’s Jake Fischer reveals that Lue may not last in Clipperland for too much longer.

“Ty Lue is as respected a head coach as they come, but there’s been some chatter about him potentially removing himself from the situation at a certain point in time.”

While Lue is a good coach who still has the respect of his players, the franchise’s repeated failures could force some changes this summer in a variety of ways.

Among them could be Lue, who might see an early playoff exit as the ultimate sign that it’s time for him to give another coach a chance. At that point, Lue would undoubtedly be in consideration for a number of other jobs.

As for the Clippers, the time to take advantage of their window is now, and another bad playoff series could spell the end of their current core of players.

What’s Wrong With The Clippers?

Sitting at 38-35 on the season, the Clippers haven’t been a bad team… but they haven’t been very good, either. Despite having Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, and a deep supporting cast of defenders and shooters, the Clippers have struggled to find consistency and lack a real identity.

And now, Paul George is facing another serious injury that could sideline him for several weeks or longer.

“They’re gonna probably gonna have more tests today, but he left the arena on crutches, in a cart,” Shams Charania said. “There is real concern within the Clippers that this is a serious injury. He had a 360-dunk in the half-court just a few plays before that. And he’s been playing at such a high level this year, their only All-Star. Of course, this hurts.”

Needless to say, the future is uncertain for the Clips, and what happens to them over these next few months may very well determine how the next several years will develop for this franchise.

Without Tyronn Lue, it’ll only make the path to redemption that much harder.
