It has been a rough year or so for Zion Williamson. The New Orleans Pelicans star missed the whole of the 2021-22 season with an injury, was being criticized for not being in basketball shape and there were rumors afloat that he wanted out from the Pelicans to play for a bigger market team.

Things finally seem to be settling down now, however. Zion recently stated that he wants to stay with the Pelicans and he was excited by how the team played against the top-seeded Phoenix Suns without him in the first round of the playoffs. Also, despite missing so much time with injury, Pelicans VP David Griffin confirmed that Williamson will get the max extension and if a recent video is anything to go by, then he looks in pretty good shape at the moment too.

Zion got up for that one in summer camp and left a little kid absolutely shocked as he seemed to have his mind blown by Williamson right there. It’s a somewhat similar reaction to what many NBA fans had when Zion was on the court for the Pels. It’s easy to forget that this guy averaged 27 points per game on 61.1% shooting from the field in just his second year in the league.

If Zion can focus on his body and on staying with the Pelicans, then the sky is the limit. They have a very talented roster headed by Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum to go with some extremely promising rookies like Herb Jones and adding Zion to this mix will make them a contender in the Western Conference next season. The only cause for concern at the moment is injury, which is out of his hands to an extent. We can only hope that we see a fit and firing on all cylinders Zion next season.

Marion’s versatility as a defender and his rebounding prowess, despite being just 6’7”, impressed Gautam immensely. He admired Marion’s finishing ability at the rim and his shooting, despite an unconventional jump shot, believing that Marion’s skill set would have been even more appreciated in today’s NBA.This transformative experience not only deepened his love for basketball but also shaped his approach to sports writing, enabling him to connect with readers through vivid storytelling and insightful analysis.
