Damian Lillard’s one of those players who can weave magic on the floor, and he did just that with an ultra-rare seven-point play against the Memphis Grizzlies.

He ended his evening with yet another dominant performance, notching up 42 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists to help the Blazers win a 122-112 win. The outing also marked his ninth 40+ point game this season and his second in a row.

While on his way to the 42 points, Lillard also had one of those mercurial moments where he stunned the world with a seven-point play.

Here is Damian Lillard scoring *seven* points in under *10 seconds* of game play

With less than 10 minutes to go in the third quarter, Portland was on the backfoot trailing 60-66 when Anfernee Simons passed the ball on to Lillard who launched a three, only to be fouled. In addition to the ball swooshing in, the guard was awarded a chance to take a shot from the free-throw line.

He followed that up with another three from downtown by collecting an inbound pass making for a brilliant seven-point feat. All that under ten seconds.

The display rubbed salt further into the Grizzlies’ wounds, who have been reeling from a string of defeats, winning just one game in their last five contests.

Can Damian Lillard And The Portland Trail Blazers Make The Playoffs?

Despite Lillard’s best efforts that easily qualify him as one of the best PGs of the decade, the Blazers are still 25-26 and are yet to break into the Top 10.

The guard has been scintillating for the side averaging 30.7 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.4 assists. His last five games have seen him average a whopping 42.2 points, 4.4 boards, and 7.8 assists.

His rich vein of form has seen the Blazers win four of their last five games. Should they continue their purple patch, Portland will be one of the teams staking their claim for a playoff berth.

Earlier, head coach Chauncey Billups outlined Lillard’s importance to the team. According to Kurt Streeter of the New York Times:

“He’s one of a kind,” said Chauncey Billups, who spent nearly two decades playing in the N.B.A. and is now the Blazers’ second-year head coach. “We understand how lucky we are to have him,” Billups said. “Everyone in this city, and on this team, wants to win for Dame.”

There’s no doubt that the franchise wants to help Lillard win a title, but they will need to surround him with the right set of pieces to achieve that objective. At the time of writing, they have been active in trade talks and hopefully will provide the guard with the necessary firepower to help win the title.

The Blazers play the Washington Wizards next, followed by a skirmish against the Chicago Bulls.
