Stephen A. Smith has worked himself to the top of the television sports media game with his strong takes and his incredible charisma. But the place he works for, ESPN, is undergoing drastic change after laying off many of their big names.

Jalen Rose, Max Kellerman, and other big names have been let go by the network. And many think that ESPN is about to fall off in terms of the content they produce, but Stephen A. Smith has now sent a strong message to the naysayers.

“I’m here for it all. Let me tell y’all something right now – I have been motivated for my entire career at being great at whatever I strive to do,” Smith said. “Sometimes I pulled it off, sometimes I haven’t. I have never, ever been to succeed on First Take more than I am right now. Y’all done started something.

“I don’t give a damn who it’s against. Because it ain’t just about me, I got an A-Team… Of course, Molly Qerim. She’s the truth y’all. She’s the damn truth. Ryan Clark gonna be back. Swagu, Marcus Spears, he gonna be back…

“Mad Dog Russo baby, he gonna be back. And that’s just for starters. Y’all done started some sh*t. I promise you, I ain’t worried about a damn soul. I love competition. Assuming there is any. We’ve been No. 1, First Take, for 11 and a half straight years. Y’all woke up the wrong brother. Y’all thought I was bad before. Buckle up.”

These are fighting words from Stephen A. and can be construed as a shot at his old partner, Skip Bayless. Bayless has his morning show, Undisputed, and he recently lost his co-host, Shannon Sharpe. But it seems Stephen A. Smith isn’t worried about whomever he might get as competition in the TV game.

Stephen A. Smith Has Tried To Recruit Shannon Sharpe To ESPN

Shannon Sharpe left Undisputed and Skip Bayless after the NBA season ended, and everyone wants to see what his next move will be. Stephen A. Smith made a big pitch for the Hall Of Famer to join him at ESPN

“If Shannon Sharpe needs me, I’m happy to be here for him,” Smith said. “If that included him wanting to come on ‘First Take,’ the bosses at ESPN know that is something I would support. Not every day, but one of those days every week.

“If Shannon Sharpe wanted to join that roster [of analysts], there’s no resistance from Stephen. A… I respect the hell out of him. There’s no doubt the man knows his football!”

Television media that routinely covers the NBA seems to be in a transitionary period at the moment. It remains to be seen how things will turn out, though. Stephen A. Smith and Skip Bayless are both excellent at what they do.
