Fadeaway World

The Philadelphia 76ers looked like the team to beat entering this season. After an eventful offseason, many expected this team to coast through the Eastern Conference, but this doesn’t seem like the case.

The Sixers have fallen back to Earth after their 5-0 start and this recent skid has everyone pointing fingers. Al Horford has voiced his frustrations with his role and Ben Simmons seems to be out of it. If the Sixers want to improve, they must make some changes. With that being said, here are 3 players that can help the Sixers win a championship this season.

Kevin Love

Love has voiced his frustrations with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and it seems as if his time with the team will be coming to an end soon. This season, Love is doing his usual thing on the Cavs, posting 16.8 points and 10 rebounds on decent efficiencies. Love could be the missing piece for this team and would be an ideal fit.

A potential trade for Kevin Love would be Al Horford, Zhaire Smith and a future 2nd round pick for Love. The fit with Horford/Embiid is suspect and on the Cavs, Horford would be a great leader and provides them with defense. Smith could become a nice 3-D player off the bench and the 2nd round pick could get you an impactful player.

Love would be able to stretch the floor on the Sixers and give more space for Simmons and Embiid to work. He also brings a veteran presence and a championship mindset. The lack of defensive abilities from Love would be hidden by Joel’s defensive abilities and the pairing could create a formidable duo.

CJ McCollum

The Portland Trail Blazers have been one of the most disappointing teams this year. After many expected them to go deep in the playoffs, they have been nothing short of mediocre and aren’t looking better. It is time to split up the pairing of Dame and CJ and the Sixers should jump on this opportunity.

A potential trade would be similar to the Kevin Love trade. Horford would be the ideal center on this Blazers team. He adds much-needed defense and leadership. Smith would be a good 3-D player off the bench and this trade allows the Blazers to unleash Anfernee Simons and make him the shooting guard of the future.

On the Sixers, McCollum would open up the offense for the Sixers. This move would allow Josh Richardson to move back to the small forward position, and Tobias Harris back to the Power Forward position. McCollum would also be another scorer and ball-handler for this team. Lastly, when Embiid and Simmons aren’t on, McCollum would be the fall-out option and the closer for this team.

Chris Paul

CP3 has had a bounce-back year with the Thunder and if they are looking to move him, now would be the time. CP3 was considered “washed” going into this year but, this has not been the case as he is averaging 16.6 points and 6.5 assists on 47% from the field and 37.3% from three. He has also been the leading scorer in the 4th quarter in the NBA and has led the OKC Thunder to the 7th seed in the West.

A potential trade would be Chris Paul for Al Horford, Mike Scott, and a future 2nd round pick. The Thunder would be getting off of CP’s insane contract while still being competitive with Horford. On the Sixers, Chris Paul would take the ball-handling pressure off of Ben Simmons and allow him to move around off the ball which could help to keep him more focused on games. His added playmaking, scoring, and clutchness would give them closer and improve their chances of winning a championship.
