NBA Rumors: Rival Executives “Preparing’ For The Possibility That Sixers Trade Joel Embiid

2 Min Read

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers are struggling to take their place among the elites in the Eastern Conference.

After a postseason appearance to the Eastern Semi-Finals in 2019, there was optimism that the team would be ready to take the next step. Unfortunately, a number of issues have plagued the team this year, and they haven’t been able to meet expectations.

But, according to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, some changes may be coming in the near future.

“But anyways, one of the conversations people are starting to have in the league is will they move Embiid? What’s the price? Where would he go?’ I’m not going to get into that, but my point is people are talking about that,” Windhorst said on his latest podcast (h/t Real GM).

“I don’t think they would do that without making an adjustment to the head coach. It’s such a radical thing, but the fact that we’re in mid-February and the people who work in the league, who have to prepare in advance, are mulling over Joel Embiid potentially coming to market, whether that’s true or not… I mean, Josh Harris can come on this podcast and deny it if he wants, but the fact people are talking about it, is not good. It’s a symptom of where they are.”

As a young, multi-dimensional player, Joel Embiid is considered one of the faces of the franchise. His skills in the post and on the defensive end are truly unmatched.

But questions about his durability and his fit with Ben Simmons have drawn major questions about his place in Philadelphia.

If they feel a major adjustment is in order, he could be on the chopping block. It’s a scenario teams around the association are preparing for.
