Joel Embiid wasn’t the one who started the process, but he is the one who made it famous.
After a long string of tanking, the Sixers accumulated young assets and draft picks until they found a young core capable of competing at the highest level. To their credit, they were able to build a pretty strong team, which includes Embiid — the biggest advocate for Sam Hinkie’s “Process.”
Apparently, though, everyone hasn’t gotten the memo.
In an appearance on Jeopardy, one contestant failed to come up with the name for Philly’s infamous rebuild, instead calling it “Do a 180.”
After seeing this video, @JoelEmbiid actually changed his Twitter name to Joel "Do a 180" Embiid??? 😂😂😂 https://t.co/AY4EjPsrSR

Embiid, being the funny guy he is, changed his name to match the blunder.

“Do a 180” isn’t exactly a misrepresentation of what the Sixers were trying to do back then. As one of the worst teams in the league for years, they were doing everything they could to turn things around.
With Embiid and Simmons, however, they’ve achieved the level of success they had been dreaming about for so many years. “The Process” worked, and now the Sixers are enjoying the fruits of their labor.
