NBA Trade Rumors: Nets Could Trade For Derrick Rose

The Brooklyn Nets aren’t competing for much this season, but they should not be underestimated in next year’s campaign.

With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving set to join take the floor together in October, there isn’t anyone who would argue their place as one of the elites in the East. But there is room for them to get even better.

In one trade proposal by Bleacher Report’s Grant Hughes, Brooklyn could send Spencer Dinwiddie to the Pistons for veteran slasher Derrick Rose and sharp-shooting wingman Svi Mykhailiuk.

He and a healthy Kennard could share playmaking duties as Doumbouya blossoms on the wing. The Griffin-Wood frontcourt tandem would even give Detroit the option of five-out looks—as long as Wood doesn’t get away in unrestricted free agency.

For the Nets, they save a little money, clear room for Irving and Caris LeVert to man the guard spots next year with Rose the clear bench leader, and add a pick, plus a promising 22-year-old wing in Mykhailiuk.

Dinwiddie has emerged as a solid guard. He is a 20-point scorer who can play heavy minutes and has stepped up in the wake of the Kyrie Irving injury.

His play has dramatically increased his trade value, and the Nets may find a package of Rose and Svi worthy of letting him go. With the pair, they’d have two solid bench players who would give the Nets some serious depth. It could be what the Nets need to secure a Championship next spring. For Rose especially, he may be on the cusp of a big season.

This season, in Detroit, he is averaging 18 points, 5.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds on 49% shooting.
