The Los Angeles Clippers are arguably one of the top three favorites for the NBA title this year. They made one of the biggest splashes in Free Agency by convincing Kawhi Leonard to join them and later trading for Paul George.

The Clippers were already the 8th seed last year in the West, so grabbing two superstars boosts them up to one of the top-three teams in the West.

Who teams such as the Lakers and Bucks have better records right now, the Clippers will manage to click together and win the NBA title. Here are the top five reasons why this will happen.

1. Kawhi Leonard

Based on last season alone, Kawhi Leonard is the best player in the NBA. He was last year’s Finals MVP and put forward a sensational Finals performance against the Warriors by averaging 28.5 PPG and 9.8 RPG on 43.4% shooting. Kawhi’s clutch shooting and perimeter defense is the main reason that Toronto won its first championship in franchise history.

Leonard always seems to take it up a notch during the playoffs, and he will be the main threat for the Los Angeles Clippers as the Road to the NBA Finals begins. Perhaps most importantly, Leonard is the best two-way player in the game right now without any real weakness in his game.

2. Depth

The Clippers have an incredible amount of depth with a ton of important signings throughout the season. Guys like Reggie Jackson, Joakim Noah, and Marcus Morris all joined the squad that already included the likes of Patrick Beverly and Lou Williams among others.

The Clippers can legitimately go 10-deep on rotation every single night without losing any productivity, and their incredible depth comes in handy as George and Leonard get back up to superstar level after such a long layoff. George and Leonard will be the main guys in the playoffs, so the more depth the team has the greatest chance that the two stars can perform at the highest level. This leads to the next reason why the Clippers will win it all this season.

3. Paul George

Other than Kawhi Leonard, Paul George is one of the best players in the game today. He has practically been resting and recuperating all season, after his sensational year with the Thunder in 2019. George finished 3rd in MVP voting by averaging 28.0 PPG and 8.2 RPG. When in form and in full health, George is a top-ten player in the game today.

His partnership with Kawhi Leonard will be massive in the playoffs, and it will allow the Clippers to compete with the likes of the Los Angeles Lakers who have their own superstar duo.

But the Los Angeles Clippers might have two other All-Star caliber players on the squad. Lou Williams is averaging 18.7 PPG off the bench, while Montrezl Harrell is averaging 18.6 PPG and 7.1 RPG off the bench as well. These two guys could start on almost every team in the NBA, and they will also provide some star power for the Clippers.

4. Doc Rivers

It is very hard to win in the NBA without exceptional coaching. For a team like the Clippers who have two superstars and an incredible overall team, exceptional coaching is needed to keep everyone’s egos and check and also field the best rotation every quarter.

Luckily for the Clippers, they have an excellent coach in Doc Rivers. Rivers won an NBA title with the superteam Celtics in 2007, with some alpha dogs in the locker room including Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce.

Doc Rivers and even assistant coach Tyron Lue have shown the ability to handle big-time players and win NBA championships with the best players in the game on one team. Rivers did it with Garnett, Pierce, and Allen; while Lue did it with LeBron James.

5. Hunger

If there is one word to describe the Clippers organization, it is hungry. From ownership down to the last player on the bench, everybody wants to win. Energetic and passionate owner Steve Ballmer has done everything in his power to make the Clippers a contender.

He spent a ton of money on the quality of the team and has dedicated the entire management to the head coach Doc Rivers. This trickles down all the way to the team and to all the best players. Kawhi Leonard wants to win his third Finals MVP and third NBA title, Paul George wants to play in the Finals, and all the role players want a chance to shine in the brightest moment.

There is nothing left for the clippers organization to do. All that is needed for them is to go out play their game and finally win an NBA title for their franchise.
