As January comes to a close, the NBA world finds itself looking ahead to All-Star weekend next month. Already, the fans know to expect an exciting slate of events, but hype levels reached a new high on Thursday evening after the final lineup of All-Star starters was revealed to the public.

With voting officially closed, the starters have been finalized, and a lot of familiar names are in the mix.

Western Conference All Star starters: LeBron James (captain) Steph Curry Luka Doncic Nikola Jokic Zion Williamson

Eastern Conference Giannis Antetokounmpo (captain) Jayson Tatum Kevin Durant Kyrie Irving Donovan Mitchell

In the West, it’s no surprise to see LeBron James leading the pack. As an 18x All-Star, 18x All-NBA player, and 4x Champion, he was going to get in no matter what his stats looked like. Fortunately, he earned the spot on his own merit with a scoring average of 29.9 points per game this season. Steph, Luka, Nikola Jokic, and Zion Williamson round out the rest of the West starters. James is 6-0 as an All-Star captain.

In the East, Giannis Antetokounmpo took back the lead over Kevin Durant and will be the captain of his own team again. While the Bucks have cooled off from their hot start, Giannis has been as good as ever this season, with an average of 31 points per game. He joins Jayson Tatum, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and Donovan Mitchell as representatives in the East.

Who Is The Biggest Snub Of The All-Star Starting Lineups?

It’s hard to argue with the selection this year, but that’s usually how it goes for the All-Star starters. For most fans and experts, picking the 5 best players in each conference is a no-brainer, and it’s clear that all of the guys earned their spots this year.

Still, a case can be made that some players should have made the cut. Guys like Joel Embiid, Jaylen Brown, and Ja Morant have a right to be upset, and there is no doubt their fans will rally.

For the most part, however, the starters are pretty solid (as always), and the game is shaping up to be an amazing event for the fans.

Let’s just hope the teams play some defense and we get a competitive game that goes down to the wire.
