Superteam 1.0 – “Perfect Two-Way Play”
Allen Iverson, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Kevin Garnett, Bill Russell
This lineup has it all on both ends of the floor, from perimeter scoring to lockdown defense. It is obvious that Allen Iverson and Michael Jordan will take all the shots for their team, scoring bucket after bucket. The reason is simple: the rest of the lineup is built on defense and hustle.
Scottie Pippen is one of the best small forwards of all time, while Garnett and Russell are some of the best paint protectors ever. This lineup is all about efficiency. John Stockton is the all-time leader in assists and steals and was a very efficient shooter from the perimeter. The Hall of Fame point guard knew how to feed his bigs, and Charles Barkley and Hakeem Olajuwon would destroy defenses.
Stockton would have no problem feeding Barkley and Olajuwon who would each average over 55% field goal shooting with ease. If open, Stockton is draining the three. Superteam 3.0 – “Unstoppable Offense”
Stephen Curry, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Shaquille O’Neal
The most high-powered offense we will ever imagine, this lineup is built on outscoring and outshooting the opponent. Curry and Kobe will be better than any backcourt thrown against them, even with the former’s defensive inefficiencies. Kevin Durant can average 30 against anybody, so he’s a perfect fit alongside any superstar like Kobe Bryant who plays the game his way.
Dirk is arguably the best shooting big man ever, and like Durant, can shoot over any defender in the league. Having Shaq in the post is simply ridiculous because he will score every time with the other 4 players out on the perimeter. Double-team Shaq, and you will pay dearly. If not, O’Neal is a walking 30-15. This team will go 82-0 and will probably average over 125 PPG.
Superteam 4.0 – “Leaders And Competitors”
Isiah Thomas, Kawhi Leonard, Larry Bird, Tim Duncan, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
Anytime you have Isiah Thomas and Larry Bird in the same lineup, you will win. Thomas and Bird are two of the greatest winners who ever lived and would do anything on or off the floor to gain an advantage. After all, they share 5 NBA championships between them and did it on top of the NBA in terms of competitiveness and desire.
Tim Duncan is the greatest power forward who ever lived while Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has a case for being the best basketball player to ever do it. Adding in a methodical Kawhi Leonard who plays at his own pace, this team will stifle opponents and rip their hearts out. Superteam 4.0 will be methodical and slowly blow teams out by the end of the game to finish 82-0 in any season.
Superteam 5.0 – “Flash And Style”
Magic Johnson, James Harden, Julius Erving, Karl Malone, Wilt Chamberlain
Anytime Magic Johnson leads the line, we will get Showtime. Magic is the greatest and flashiest point guard who ever played the game, and will make all his teammates better. Giving Magic Johnson the likes of James Harden and Julius Erving on the wing would be a dream to watch. Say what you will about Harden, but his stepback three and ankle-breaking skills can be showtime.
Magic and Harden will throw lobs to Erving all game long, as the 6’7” forward might be the best in-game dunker we have ever seen. This trio will simply outperform and demoralize any team in the league, but Karl Malone and Wilt Chamberlain make this team even better. While Magic is unstoppable on the break, he can feed it into Malone and Chamberlain in the half-court to destroy defenses. Not to mention, Wilt is one of the most notorious “flashy” stars who have ever played the game. In all facets of the game, this team is perfect and will go 82-0.
