Chris Paul has been an NBA star for quite some time now, and he has certainly amassed generational wealth throughout his career. He has signed multiple lucrative contracts during his time in the NBA, with the most recent one being with Phoenix Suns.
However, before he was a multi-millionaire, Chris Paul was a prospect entering the league. At the time, Chris Paul had little wealth to his name, and he has recently stated that he entered the league with $151 in his bank account.
Even though he wasn’t exactly wealthy when entering the league, Chris Paul has made the most of the opportunity he was given. As the Instagram post by ClutchPoints shows, he was No. 31 on the list of the world’s highest-paid athletes, and makes around $40 million a year currently, with $33 million coming from his contract, and the other $7 million coming from endorsements. That is certainly a long way from only having $151 to one’s name.
Aside from his off-court success, Chris Paul has enjoyed a lengthy NBA career and is a future Hall of Famer. He has made every team that he’s been on better, and the Phoenix Suns went from missing the playoffs to making the NBA Finals with his addition.
As a result of that achievement, he was rewarded with a lucrative deal by the Phoenix Suns. What’s impressive is that Chris Paul has managed to stay a top-tier point guard even as he got older, a testament to his talent and knowledge of the game. Perhaps he gets another semi-large contract at the end of his current deal if his performances don’t drop off due to age.
The Phoenix Suns will hope that Chris Paul continues to perform the way he has over the course of last season and the early part of this season. Currently, Paul is putting up 14.4 PPG and 10.2 APG this season, and he’s definitely playing at an All-Star caliber.
