Metta Sandiford Artest After Squashing Beef With Ben Wallace: “This Duo Would Beat Any Duo. Ruled The 2000’s On Defense. It’s Not Debatable.”

It took 17 years for Metta Sandiford Artest (formerly Ron Artest) and Ben Wallace to squash their beef after what remains the most infamous brawl in NBA history.

Not many know the inside story of Malice at the Palace, and while many would blame Artest, a fan started the whole saga. As the Los Angeles Lakers hosted the Detroit Pistons at Staples, both defensive juggernauts were on the ground to witness the game and shook hands before tip-off.

Artest made a bold statement with his caption, stating that both of them on a team would be the best defensive pairing in league history. Unfortunately, they never played for the same team throughout their careers.

“This duo would beat any duo. Ruled the 2000’s on defense. It’s not debatable.”

Fans have come out in their numbers to appreciate the squashing of the beef but focused more on how they believe Artest’s statement to be true.

“Beasts on defense!!!”

“That’s a very solid low post pair.”

“Layups was earned not given”

“All I see is a tough defense”

“Doesn’t get much better than these two”

“Two of my favorite all time great defenders EVER”

“Nothing getting past this duo.”

“This is wholesome bro! Two of the best defenders I’ve ever watched”

“Iconic picture right here. The history makes up for why this is such a legendary picture”

“That’s why Kobe wanted you on the Lakers !”

“17 years later. Peace”

“People are scrolling and not paying attention, this photo as Iconic! Nice pic gentlemen”

“Solace at the Staples.”

“That would’ve been a dynamic duo 4sho!! D Fence!!”

Wallace played for five different franchises, but the highlight of his career was his time with the Pistons. He won four NBA Defensive Player of the Year awards, was the 2002 block champion, and also led the league in rebounds twice.

Although Artest made the All-Star team once while he was with the Indiana Pacers, he had more success with the Lakers winning a championship with the 2009-10 team. He also won the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year award once during his time with the Pacers.
