Spurs Predicted To Acquire Devin Booker In Crazy Trade Idea

The San Antonio Spurs have already made a big splash this season by acquiring De’Aaron Fox, but NBA analysts believe they might not be done yet. According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, the Spurs could turn their abundance of draft assets into a game-changing trade for Devin Booker, forming a superstar trio alongside Fox and Victor Wembanyama.

O’Connor suggested a trade that would send Booker to San Antonio in exchange for Devin Vassell, Chris Paul, and a treasure chest of draft picks. The Spurs, already armed with eight first-rounders and multiple pick swaps, could leverage their assets to pry the 28-year-old All-Star away from Phoenix.

The proposed trade would look like this:

San Antonio Spurs receive: Devin Booker

Phoenix Suns receive: Devin Vassell, Chris Paul, 2025 First-Round pick (via Hawks), 2027 First-Round pick (via Hawks), 2029 First-Round pick, 2031 First-Round pick, 2025 First-Round pick and 2027 Second-Round pick

This package would net Phoenix four first-round picks and two second-round picks, along with Vassell, a rising two-way star, and Chris Paul, whose expiring contract could free up cap space for the Suns.

The Spurs are in a unique position. They already have Victor Wembanyama, the most hyped prospect since LeBron James, and they just added De’Aaron Fox, one of the fastest and most explosive guards in the league. While this duo is already formidable, adding Booker would elevate San Antonio into immediate title contention.

Booker, a three-time All-Star and an elite scorer has proven he can play alongside ball-dominant stars like Kevin Durant and Chris Paul. His ability to score efficiently from all three levels, create his own shot, and handle playmaking duties makes him an ideal fit next to Wembanyama and Fox.

A potential Big Three of Fox, Booker, and Wemby would be one of the most dynamic in the league. With San Antonio’s strong development system and a young supporting cast, this move could propel them to top-tier contender status in the Western Conference for years to come.

The Suns have been built around their Big Three of Booker, Durant, and Bradley Beal, but their lack of depth and financial flexibility has made it difficult to build a sustainable contender. Trading Booker for a package of picks and young talent would allow them to retool their roster, similar to what the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets have done in recent years.

If the Suns are willing to reset and build around a new core, this move could help them recoup draft assets lost in past trades while still staying competitive. Moving Booker could also trigger a larger rebuild, possibly involving Kevin Durant being traded as well.

While this trade makes plenty of sense for the Spurs, the biggest hurdle will be convincing Phoenix to part ways with Booker. He’s been the face of the franchise since 2015, and moving him would signal a complete franchise overhaul.

However, if the Suns struggle to stay competitive and ownership decides to embrace a rebuild, this Spurs deal could be too tempting to ignore. If it happens, San Antonio would instantly become one of the most exciting teams in the NBA, positioning themselves as a serious title contender for the foreseeable future.
