Dwyane Wade Picks Shaquille O’Neal Over LeBron James As His Best Teammate: “Shaq Made Me Somebody. I Was Already Somebody Once LeBron Came Out.”

Dwyane Wade left the game as arguably the third-greatest shooting guard in NBA history. The Miami Heat legend was one of the most beloved players in the league during his active days.

He was part of incredible teams that won several championships and competed for important stuff, sharing touches with big legends of the game. His time with the Heat was successful, as he went to five NBA Finals, winning three titles in the process.

Wade teamed up with big names like LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal, his two greatest teammates of all time. He won championships with both superstars, but Flash has a favorite between them. He even has a favorite Heat squad between the 2006 and 2012 teams.

Talking on “LIVE with Kelly and Ryan,” the 3x NBA champion discussed his favorite teammate. He picked Shaq since he was the one that took him to the next level and made him a known name around the association.

“Shaq was a great teammate because I was young and nobody knew who I was. And Shaq grabbed me and was like, ‘Yo! Imma make you somebody.’ I was already somebody once LeBron came out.”

If you think about it, that’s true. Actually, Shaq and Wade helped each other. O’Neal came from playing alongside Kobe Bryant, and people doubted he could win another title without the late Los Angeles Lakers icon. Two years after getting traded to Miami, he and Wade returned from a 2-0 deficit against the Dallas Mavericks in the 2006 Finals, winning a memorable championship with Wade becoming Finals MVP.

In 2010, Wade was already an established star. He even believed he should have gotten the MVP and DPOY awards in the 2008-09 season, so you know the level of this man at that moment.

Once LeBron James arrived in South Beach, Dwyane and Chris Bosh accompanied The King, who led them to four consecutive trips to the Finals, winning two titles. So, yes, it’s fair to say Shaq was more impactful and a better teammate to Wade than LeBron.
