Like Dennis Rodman himself, the NBA legend’s daughter has taken to sports. Trinity Rodman is currently playing National Women’s Soccer League, representing the Washington Spirit. She made history when she came into the league, becoming the youngest player to be drafted in the history of the NWSL.

And during her game last night, she received a terrific surprise – an appearance from her father Dennis Rodman. Trinity took to Instagram after the game and reflected on her father being there for the game. She was honest about the strained relationship they shared, but also how much love and appreciation she had for him.

Trinity mentioned that she hoped her father and she can improve their relationship as time goes on, and how the gesture was a big step in doing that.

“This last game was an extremely emotional one. Yes, Dennis Rodman showed up to an NWSL game, but also my dad, after YEARS surprised me at a big game in my career, I was shocked, overwhelmed, happy, sad, everything. My dad doesn’t play a big role in my life at all and most people don’t know that, we don’t see eye to eye on many things. I go months if not years without his presence or communication. Being in spotlights has been hard for us, him and me. We don’t have the best relationship, but at the end of the day he’s human I’m human… he’s my dad, and I’m his little girl that will never change. I will improve and look forward everyday as I hope he does.”

Rodman has mentioned in the past that his career did have a somewhat negative effect on his family life. During his Hall Of Fame induction, Rodman tearfully lamented that he wished he had been a better father and husband for his family, but hoped that he could make amends as time went on.

This was an emotional first step and a big moment for Rodman and his daughter. They shared an embrace, as Trinity shared in her Instagram post. Fans will hope the best for Rodman, as he continues to try and improve his relationship with his family as time goes on.
