Russell Westbrook On His Struggles: “If You Just Kinda Look Back And You See The Last Three Or Four Years, I’ve Always Been On New Teams.”

Silver Screen and Roll

With a 5-5 record to start the season, the L.A. Lakers haven’t exactly lived up to expectations.

Besides injury troubles from several key players (including LeBron James), the team has been exposed in a number of ways, and it’s clear there are some flaws with the roster and their system.

Russell Westbrook, who went 1-13 in Saturday’s contest, has struggled mightily — which has only served to fuel his critics and haters.

Responding to his poor performance since donning the Purple and Gold, Westbrook revealed his perspective on the situation, noting that he’s still trying to find his footing on his fourth team in four years.

(per Lakers Daily)

“If you just kinda look back and you see the last three or four years, I’ve always been on new teams, so I’m just kind like figuring out the best way to better play.

The good part about it is I’m so blessed and thankful that I can do so many different things on the floor, that I can do whatever, with anybody. I can play with anybody. And I’m very comfortable with that.

But also I take a lot of pride, and I take a lot of just energy and effort to make sure I can be the best I can be with the guys we have on this team and make the best of this situation.”

For over a decade, Russ was the man in Oklahoma City, where he blossomed into a star and cemented his place in basketball history.

But since being traded, he has had to take a back seat to guys like James Harden and Bradley Beal, partnerships that often took the ball out of his hands.

And now, in L.A. he’s having to endure one of his hardest challenges yet, as making things work with his newest team is proving to be a daunting task.

We’ll see before too long how he responds to this new obstacle.
