Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors suffered their first loss of the season last night against the Memphis Grizzlies. The Warriors held a 19-point lead at one point in the game, but couldn’t close the game in regulation, and lost a close game in overtime by 3 points.
Curry had a solid game when you look at his numbers. He had 36 points and made 7 threes during the game. But a closer look at his numbers, especially in the fourth quarter points out a much larger problem.
Steph Curry made none of his attempted shots during the fourth quarter and in overtime. In fact, it is the third consecutive game where Curry failed to make a shot during the fourth quarter or overtime, now going for 0-11 across those 3 games.

Curry’s point tally may be high, but he has come up small for the Warriors when they need him the most. For some reason, whichever shot he takes in the final moments of the game, doesn’t seem to go in. And this has become a problem for the Warriors, especially in close-game situations.
Now, the Warriors will refocus their target on Oklahoma City, whom they will face on Saturday night. Curry will hope that he can change his fourth-quarter fortunes in that game. Curry is on track to surpass Ray Allen on the all-time three-pointers made list, and will want to get there soon enough.
But Steph Curry won’t worry too much about his reputation as the greatest shooter of all time. Even if Curry were to miss his next 500 three-pointers, he would still have a better career three-point percentage than Ray Allen.
While this may not be a big problem yet, given that the Warriors are currently 4-1 and one of the best teams in the league when it comes to record. But given how competitive the Western Conference is this season, they will need Curry to become more clinical when it comes to three-point shooting.
