NBA Rumors: League Executive Says Buddy Hield Is Going To Be Traded

Buddy Hield is one of the best shooters in the league, and he is currently shooting 37.5% from beyond the arc on 10.7 attempts a game. When he gets hot from the 3PT range, he does not cool down.

Despite his proficiency from range, it seems as though the Sacramento Kings would like to move on from him. According to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype, “Hield’s descending contract could make it more likely” for the sharpshooter to be moved.

Buddy Hield recently broke Peja Stojakovic’s franchise record for three-pointers, but it remains to be seen how many more threes he’ll make for the Kings.

“Buddy’s going to be gone,” one NBA executive told HoopsHype bluntly. “They already traded him and had a done deal.”

Another executive noted Hield’s descending contract could make it more likely for him to be traded.

Hield is owed $23.09 million this season, $21.21 million during the 2022-23 season and $19.32 million for the 2023-24 season.

There’s no question that a lot of teams could use a high-volume shooter like Hield. During this offseason, Buddy Hield was linked with the Los Angeles Lakers, who were reportedly “closing in” on a trade for the marksman. Obviously, the deal didn’t happen, but there were further reports that the Sacramento Kings were left “steaming” about the Lakers pulling out of Hield talks to pursue Russell Westbrook. It’s clear that the Sacramento Kings really want to move on from Buddy Hield.

It remains to be seen which team will end up trading for Buddy Hield, or whether he’ll end up remaining in Sacramento through the trade deadline. He would fit fine in a starting or bench role and would provide some elite spacing for any stars. There’s no doubt that Hield is a productive player, and perhaps we’ll see him thrive in a new situation.
