The Charlotte Hornets have recently been defeated by the Boston Celtics, despite the best efforts of sophomore point guard LaMelo Ball, who put up 25 points on the loss, while shooting 50% from beyond the arc. While the game did go into overtime

LaMelo Ball had a particularly nasty stepback 3PT shot on Celtics guard Marcus Smart, who is known as one of the best perimeter defenders in the league. A lot of social media pages posted the video of the move, and it was certainly a joy to watch.

While LaMelo Ball may have had a good game, the Celtics still got the win, and Marcus Smart wasn’t too hurt about getting crossed up either. When asked about it after the game, Marcus Smart trolled LaMelo Ball, saying that Ball might get the “House of Highlights” but the Celtics “got the win and that’s all that matters”.

It happens. It happens I’m a defender. Just like a shot blocker, you’re gonna get dunked on a few times. We came out with the win… He’s going to get all of the overtime, House of Highlights, Sports Center and all that but we got the win and that’s all that matters

There’s no question that LaMelo Ball is a flashy player, and that a lot of his highlights make their way to the internet. Marcus Smart may have gotten the last laugh this time, but the Charlotte Hornets are 3-1, and they have had a great start to the season. They had their first 3-0 start in franchise history, and the franchise is in good hands.

Coach James Borrego has previously said that he expects “a big year” from LaMelo Ball, and thus far, the point guard has delivered. Hopefully, the Hornets’ good play continues, and perhaps they’ll end up making it back to the playoffs.
