Kevin Durant is one of the best players in the NBA right now. You can debate that he’s No. 1 or No. 2 ahead or behind Giannis Antetokounmpo. Still, nobody thinks he’s the third-best player in the league right now.
The Brooklyn Nets superstar proved his doubters wrong last season, playing like his old self, demonstrating that not even an ACL injury could stop him. Unfortunately, he couldn’t take the Brooklyn Nets to the promised land, getting eliminated in the second round of the 2021 NBA playoff, where KD missed a big shot to take his team to the ECF.
Like we admire Durant and enjoy watching him play, he likes to see other players do their thing. Back in 2019, the 2x NBA champion revealed the five players he enjoys watching the most.
During an appearance on ESPN’s ‘First Take,’ Durantula was inquired about the top 5 players in the league. Instead, he talked about the five players he likes to see.
“I’mma give you five players I like in the league,” Durant told Stephen A. Smith. “Obviously Kyrie, LeBron, James Harden. Joel Embiid. I’m missing a lot of guys that I enjoy, but Damian Lillard is probably the last one. There are so many great players that I enjoy watching.”
Game recognizes game and KD knows these five are great at what they do. A starting lineup of these five would be extremely dangerous on the offensive end, where KD stands out the most.
He’s one of the greatest scorers in the NBA, so it’s not a surprise that he goes with players that work on their craft on the offensive end. Curiously, two of those five players are Durant’s teammates on the Nets now.
Even though Kyrie’s refusal to get the COVID-19 vaccine has become an issue for the team, he and James Harden will have the job to carry Brooklyn to the NBA Finals next year.
The route to the championship could see them face two other players on this list: Joel Embiid in a potential Eastern Conference Finals and LeBron James in the biggest series of all.
