Karl-Anthony Towns Rips Into Minnesota Timberwolves Front Office After Gersson Rosas Firing: “It’s Just The Same Thing Every Single Time. It’s Something That Always Leads To Instability Every Single Time.”

The Spun

Karl-Anthony Towns has stayed loyal to the Minnesota Timberwolves organization for quite some time now. Entering the league in 2015, Towns was the number 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, going to the Timberwolves.

The Timberwolves management has failed to make any decent moves to improve the team. The most recent move they made to help KAT was trading Andrew Wiggins to the Warriors to bring in Towns’ friend D’Angelo Russell. That move is yet to pay off as both those players have rarely shared a court with each other due to injuries.

On top of that, the Timberwolves drafted Anthony Edwards last year with the 1st overall pick, and he has shown potential to be brilliant in the future. Barring any major moves, DLo, KAT, and Ant will be their big 3 going forward.

The Timberwolves have been in a controversial position for quite some time now. Most recently, the Timberwolves fired Gersson Rosas, the former president of basketball operations for the franchise, for an inappropriate workplace relationship and fostering a general sense of toxicity, among other things.

Towns commented on this recently, aiming shots at the franchise for drumming up controversy yet again during the offseason. He noted that these kinds of incidents can cause instability in the franchise. KAT also spoke about his experience with the franchise, and what all he has had to endure during his stint in Minnesota as a player.

KAT: “I’m going to continue to me.”

“What happened last week just added to the list. Its just the same thing every single time. It’s something that always leads to instability every single time. I joked about it the day before. I was like ‘man, it’s been a real quiet offseason for Minnesota. It’s very different’. Boom, they made sure they had 1 left in the hat.”

“I’ve been defamed by teammates, scapegoated. … I’ve always been a professional. … I’ve been a punching bag but I do this for the organization…I’m going to continue to do me.”

Towns has steadily improved over the last few seasons, even becoming an All-Star at one point. The Timberwolves finally found a franchise player who can bring them success, something they haven’t had since the departure of Kevin Garnett in 2007.

But despite Towns’ regular uphill trajectory, the Timberwolves have remained mediocre throughout. One of the biggest problems for the Timberwolves is their poor management over the last few years. And his latest comments could suggest that he may have had enough of it now.
