Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh achieved great success together in Miami, making history and winning titles to mark one of the greatest eras in Heat history.
And while much time has passed since their days as teammates, Wade recently spoke about Chris Bosh’s Hall of Fame induction, and how his career deserves some serious praise and credit.
“Chris, for his career to end before he wanted it to, him not be able to play his entire time the way he wanted to, and still be that Hall of Famer, to get that nod right away, at a young age [37], it has to feel special,” Wade told Ira Winderman of South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
It is certainly impressive that Bosh was able to make the Hall of Fame in spite of his career having ended so abruptly. Today, Bosh has moved on from that whole ordeal, but Wade did shed some light on what it was like to watch his teammate cope with the reality of his situation.
“I was in Miami when he went down with blood clots. We didn’t know a lot about it. One moment we’re in a plane flying to All-Star Weekend… Next time I seen him, he was in a hospital with tubes in his chest & his mouth. At that moment, it’s real life man. People don’t see that.”
The 37-year-old basketball legend certainly made a lot of noise during his 13 years in the NBA. An 11x All-Star, 2x Champion, and 1x All-NBA player, he proved countless times that he was a guy who could be counted on when his team needed him most.
After being diagnosed with blood clots in 2016, he had to end his career ahead of schedule.
Fortunately, there aren’t many who have forgotten all that he achieved and accomplished during his time as a pro — and Dwyane Wade is here to remind anyone who forgot.
