Before joining the Heat in 2010, Chris Bosh was a star in Toronto, where he averaged 20.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game on 49% shooting.
He had it pretty good with the Raptors and played a huge role for the organization through the 2000s.
And while he achieved great success with the Miami Heat, many still question why he’d choose to go from being the main star to a third-option.
In a recent chat on SiriusXM Radio, Bosh explained his thinking behind the move:
“One message in particular stuck out in my head saying, ‘you want to play on the big stage.’ That always stuck with me. I wanted to compete for a Championship. I wanted to be like Jordan. I wanted to be like Kobe. I wanted to be like Tim Duncan. Those guys elevated their game and got with the Boston, and now they’re playing at that level.” he said. “I wanted to play at that level. That was the most important thing to me.”

Bosh had to make a choice in 2010. Teaming up with LeBron James and Dwyane meant would obviously mean a sacrifice on his part, as he would have to share the spotlight, and the basketball, with two players who were, objectively, better than him.
But it would also mean he’d get his best chance to win titles. And, after winning two Championships in four trips to the Finals, it’s fair to say his run in Miami was highly successful.
Looking back, he doesn’t have any regrets.
Big shots. Big blocks. Big wins. We hung banners and took home titles for the city of Miami. In the process, I made brothers for life.
The ‘Big Three” Heat are still renowned today for their dominance. At the height of their powers, they won 27-straight games en-route to lifting the Larry O’Brien.
As for Bosh, he played his last game in 2016, but nobody will forget what he was able to accomplish in the NBA.
