If one thinks about what Lonzo Ball’s best ability is, most people would come to the same conclusion: being a playmaker. Ball is one of the best passers in the league, and though he was utilized a fair amount off the ball in New Orleans, the point guard still managed to average 5.7 assists over the course of the 2020-21 season.

Next year will be a key developmental year for Lonzo Ball, and he will likely get an opportunity to handle the ball quite a lot next season with the Chicago Bulls. That will surely lead to an increase in his assist numbers. NBA veteran Antonio Daniels suggested that Lonzo Ball could finish in the top 5 for assists next season, due to his prowess with lob passes.

Next season, Zo will have a variety of offensive players that he could make plays for. DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine are both great slashers, as is Patrick Williams. They could definitely take advantage of Lonzo Ball getting them open looks near the rim. Ball will also have very capable 3PT shooters on the roster as well, such as veteran big man Nikola Vucevic. The Chicago Bulls have a loaded squad, and that will certainly make the game easier for Lonzo Ball and let him play his natural style.

There’s no doubt that the Chicago Bulls have the talent to be a playoff team next season. They have 3 All-Star caliber players and some promising young talent. That seems like a fairly good recipe for success. Of course, there will be some times where the team may struggle, as they are working out how to play with one another. What’s certain, is that Lonzo Ball is a big part of the Bulls’ push back to the playoffs, and hopefully he can show the best version of himself next season.
