Giannis Antetokounmpo is finally an NBA champion. That statement is music to the ears of all Milwaukee Bucks fans. Tonight, Antetokounmpo put on one of the greatest performances in NBA Finals history, scoring 50 points, 13 rebounds, and 5 blocks. It is an incredible moment for Antetokounmpo, who prior to this season, had his championship pedigree questioned. Despite calls and rumors of him leaving Milwaukee to join a super-team, he chose to re-sign with the Bucks. And now, his loyalty has been rewarded with an NBA championship.

Giannis has been a force throughout these NBA Finals, especially tonight in Game 6. Antetokounmpo’s Game 6 performance will go down in history as one of the best individual game showings in history. After the game, you could see the emotion on Antetkounmpo’s face, as he was crying, but also grinning from ear to ear. ‘The Greek Freak’ is only just 26 years old, but this moment feels like he has waited for it his entire career.

After the game, Giannis spoke to the press as a champion and a Finals MVP. A reporter asked how he hoped to inspire others as a role model after his win. Giannis then reflected on his humble beginnings to show that anyone can do this. His mother was a street peddler in Greece, and now he is sitting high above everyone else at the summit of the NBA mountain. Giannis noted how this moment finally gives him some peace, and he can rest easy even if he never wins a title again.

“I hope I can give people around the world … hope it can be done. My mom was selling stuff in the street, and now I’m sitting here at the top of the top. … if I never sit at this table again, I’ll be fine with it.”

While Giannis is saying he’s okay with never winning a title, all fans know that he and the Bucks will be even hungrier next season after having tasted championship glory. As for Giannis, at the age of 26, he already has a resume that could make him a first-ballot hall of fame star. But now he will want to win more with Milwaukee, while also building his legacy to become the greatest of all time.
