At this point, the shooting woes of Ben Simmons have become a national story.

Between his refusal to take outside shots and his terrible percentage at the free-throw line, his struggles on the offensive end are no longer just a detriment to his own game, it’s putting a serious cap on the potential of his team.

Amongst a sea of criticism and hot takes, one former sharpshooting big man offered his own words on the matter, giving some advice to Ben on what he can do to improve the situation:

(via the Dan Patrick Show)

“I’d tell him to switch hands. LeBron is left-handed and he shoots right-handed but he does things left-handed. You already can’t get any lower cuz you don’t take shots. Work with the other hand, because then it’s new, it’s fresh and you don’t have the yips.”

Simmons has never been known as a knockdown shooter, but it isn’t too late to add that long-distance shot to his arsenal. In fact, it may be necessary if he ever wants to win a Championship.

As far as what he needs to do to make that happen remains to be seen, especially because his case is rather unique. But with some hard work, dedication, and a little bit of help from veterans, he can prove all the doubters wrong.

This offseason is his chance to change the trajectory of his career.
