Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Promised Devin Booker A Custom Fanny Pack If He Wins NBA Championship

2 Min Read

Winning an NBA Championship is its own reward. But, objectively, being gifted a fanny pack from “The Rock” is a pretty nice prize as well and would serve as a good bit of extra motivation for anybody.

For Suns star Devin Booker, he now just stands 4 wins away from that reality, thanks to a promise Dwayne Johnson made to him on Twitter back in 2017.

Towards the end, Johnson promised to make and send the Suns star a custom-made fanny pack when/if he won a Championship.

“Haha make ya a deal when you hold up that Larry O’Brien trophy one fine day, I’ll make sure you have a personalized fanny pack ready to throw on. Keep chasin’ that greatness brotha.”

Booker was just 21 at the time of the Tweets, and the Suns were a completely disorganized mess of a franchise that was often criticized for its poor decision-making.

As for Dwayne Johnson, it’s not known where his NBA fandom lies (he was born in California), but his chat with Booker wasn’t the only time he expressed support for Phoenix sports. In 2016, he said he would have “loved” to play football for then-Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians.

Suns fan or not, though, it’s clear that The Rock is a fan of Denin Booker, and who can blame him? After being among the worst teams in the NBA for years, they stand just 4 wins away from an NBA Championship.

No doubt, watching what they have been able to do this season must make the guy proud.
