NBA Rumors: Sixers Will Only Trade Ben Simmons For An All-Star

The Philadelphia 76ers have quite a complicated situation on their hands right now. They could either hope that Ben Simmons works on his flaws and develops a better all-around game and run it back, or they can risk losing a franchise player on a trade.

That’s why they need to be very careful when it comes to the offers they field and consider, as Simmons’ trade value seems to be at an all-time low right now.

So, after reportedly turning down an offer from the Indiana Pacers that featured Malcolm Brogdon and a first-round pick, the Sixers have let other teams know that they’ll only consider parting ways with Simmons if they get an All-Star caliber player in return:

“The Sixers have already fielded offers for Ben Simmons but continue to hold a stance that they will only trade him for an all-star caliber player. They most recently turned down a deal with the Pacers that included Malcolm Brogdon and a 1st round pick,” reported Jason Dumas of Bleacher Report.

This doesn’t come as a surprise considering that Simmons is a former first-overall pick, and an All-Defensive kind of player that can run an offense like the best of them.

Even so, his fit next to Joel Embiid has always been somewhat questionable, and he was exposed once again in the playoffs by the Atlanta Hawks.

It’s clear that Simmons is far from being a finished product and his big contract is also a concern for the Sixers. Still, it’s not like he’s 34 years old. He’s young and reportedly eager to get better and fix the tweaks in his game.

Whether Simmons will play for the Sixers next year or so is yet to be seen. What’s clear is that whoever wants him will have to meet a steep price for his services.
