The Los Angeles Lakers lost their third game in a row tonight, this time being blown out 126-102 by the San Antonio Spurs. It was a terrible performance, especially in the second half, from the Lakers, who even led the game at one point by 11 points.

While one can make the excuse that the Lakers were a little rusty, having two of their games postponed due to the tragic LA wildfires, there is no reason why they shouldn’t have beaten this Spurs team.

Anthony Davis, despite the loss, had a strong performance, putting up 30 points (12-18 FG), 13 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and two blocks.

LeBron James put up yet another timeless performance with 18 points (7-11 FG), five rebounds, eight assists, one steal, and one block. Austin Reaves, who had been playing so well these past few weeks, put up a poor performance with 12 points (4-14 FG), five rebounds, and eight assists.

As for the San Antonio Spurs, they had three players with 20+ points tonight. Victor Wembanyama put up 23 points (10-17 FG), eight rebounds, five assists, three steals, and two blocks. Devin Vassell had 23 points (9-18 FG), six rebounds, four assists, and two steals. And completing the trifecta of 23-pointers was Stephon Castle, who had 23 points (10-16 FG), four assists, one steal, and two blocks.

Fans were not happy with the way the Lakers played. However, fans of other teams did express their joy and satisfaction over the Lakers failing once again. It was an interesting mix of reactions from fans all over the world as the most polarizing team in the world had yet another bad performance.

“Lakers choke double-digit lead and LOSE their 3rd straight game.”

“Everything bad that could happen just happened LOL Laker Hoops is back.”

“I missed Laker basketball man no matter how much these n****s piss me off.”

“Lakers when it comes to ruining my f**king night after I think it can’t get worse.”

“Hard to describe what’s happening as anything other than a total and utter Lakers collapse.”

“I don’t understand why the Lakers aren’t playing Dorian Finney-Smith more.”

“Lakers tricked a game off they were comfortably on track to win.”

“Lakers LOVE playing down to their opponents…”

“Another embarrassing loss for the Lakers. On track for another forgettable 45-win season that ends in an early playoff flameout. Like a hamster on a wheel.”

“Lakers get energy vampire’d so often after getting punched in the mouth.”

One of the biggest lessons tonight was the Lakers’ poor roster construction. It is clear that the Lakers need to make some trades to improve their roster if they want to compete. We here at Fadeaway World came up with five trade ideas that could help them improve their roster before the deadline.

JJ Redick will have to react quickly, as the Lakers are at risk of entering a downward slump. Having lost their last three games, they cannot afford to make it four games when they play the Miami Heat on Wednesday, 15th January, at 10 PM EST. Some questions will be asked of the head coach if he cannot get things right.
