Magic Johnson Says Chris Paul Should Join The Lakers If He Doesn’t Win With The Suns

Magic Johnson came up with an interesting idea for Chris Paul in case his Phoenix Suns fail to win the championship this year. The legendary point guard made a case for the Lakers as a perfect destination for the Point God.

The Suns are having a terrific postseason, leading their Western Conference Finals series against the Los Angeles Clippers, even without Paul on the court. They are a strong candidate to win it all this campaign but, in case they can’t do the job, Magic already has an alternative for the 36-year-old.

Asked if the Lakers should go after Paul if he doesn’t succeed with Phoenix, Magic said:

“No question about it. I’d tell Jeanie I’d ask some money for CP3. It’d be perfect for LeBron, for AD, and for the role players.”

.@RealJayWilliams: If CP3 doesn't win w/ the Suns & declines his $44M option, can he be a piece for the Lakers?@MagicJohnson: "No question about it. I'd tell Jeanie I'd ask some money for CP3. It'd be perfect for LeBron, for AD, & for the role players." https://t.co/Wda75IMccI

Truth be told, CP3 would be a major upgrade for the Lakers. They have struggled at the point guard position in the past couple of seasons and adding a piece like Paul would solve many issues. We’ve already seen how he improves the level of his teams and that’s precisely what the Lakers need.

However, Chris would reportedly decline his player option to sign a new deal with the Suns. Seeing how well this team is playing this playoff, that possibility looks even likelier for the player.

After winning the title in 2020, the Lakers were considered favorites to win the title this season. However, injuries and the inspired Suns ruined their plans, eliminating the purple and gold in the first round of the playoffs.

Imagine LeBron and AD playing alongside Paul. That would be a nightmare for the rest of the league.
