NBA Rumors: Los Angeles Lakers Explored Trading Kyle Kuzma For Spencer Dinwiddie

The Los Angeles Lakers lost in 6 games and the Phoenix Suns, and it is clear that they needed more from their roster offensively while LeBron James and Anthony Davis weren’t at 100% due to injuries sustained during the regular season. It is clear that some moves need to be made for the future.

It seems as though there were potential moves that could have been made at the trade deadline. Net Income of Nets Daily has recently stated that a potential Kyle Kuzma and Spencer Dinwiddie exchange could have been possible. While Spencer Dinwiddie is still out with an injury currently, he could have definitely been a contributor next season, as he is a combo guard who can score the ball and defend: a perfect third option behind Anthony Davis and LeBron James.

What might Nets do in free agency with all those decisions pending?…the Nets could engage in sign-and-trade talks using Dinwiddie as bait. Reportedly, the Nets were engaged in talks at the deadline with the Warriors that would have sent the point guard to Golden State for Kelly Oubre and to Los Angeles and the Lakers for Kyle Kuzma.

It would have been interesting to see Spencer Dinwiddie in Los Angeles. The Lakers would have likely attempted to re-sign Dinwiddie. There was no reason to trade Kyle Kuzma for someone who couldn’t contribute immediately if the goal was finding someone to help them in the playoffs. However, as the article mentions, the potential of a sign-and-trade for Dinwiddie is there, and we will see whether he ends up making his way over to Los Angeles.
